Tom Worthley is Assistant Extension Professor at the University of Connecticut Cooperative Extension Service and the University of Connecticut Department of Natural Resources and the Environment. He has written a number of scholarly articles and also teaches courses in Forest Ecology and Management and Dendrology. He has worked extensively on tracts in the UConn Forest and beyond in both outreach and educational activities.

Bob Ricard is Senior Extension Educator with the Department of Extension and teaches in the Department of Natural Resources and the Environment. He came to the University of Connecticut in 1991 and serves as the Land Use and Water Program Team Leader.

Bob is responsible for helping Connecticut cities and towns with better managing public trees and forests focusing mostly on municipal tree wardens and community forestry volunteers. He also assists educators and researchers conduct social science research design and methods. He conducts the Tree Warden School and assists the Tree Wardens’ Association of Connecticut, Inc., which he formed in 1992. He is co-author, with Glenn Dreyer, of Greening Connecticut Cities and Towns: Managing Public Trees and Community Forests (2005, 260 pp). Bob holds a Ph.D. in public policy with other degrees in forest resources. He is a Fellow of the Society of American Foresters.

Joel Stocker

Joel started with the NEMO program as a graduate assistant within the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources. After graduating with a Masters in Natural Resources Management and Engineering in 1994 he continued full time with NEMO through the Cooperative Extension System. He currently works with Extension Forestry and supports multiple CLEAR projects with GIS applications and training.

In addition Joel has a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Michigan Technological University. Prior to joining the University Joel worked as an Engineer in the US Air Force, separating, honorably, as a Captain.

Nancy MarekNancy Marek, Research Specialist

Nancy Marek is an Extension Forester who specializes in private lands management providing education to landowners and land managers on such topics as forest and wildlife management, identifying woody trees and shrubs, and forest ecology. She is also helping to develop a program connecting small wood markets with local artisans. She holds a bachelor's degree from Mount Holyoke College in biology and a master's degree in forest science from the Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies.
